Marble Care Guide

How to clean and protect hand-carved marble and stone inlay so it keeps its polish for decades.

Everyday cleaning

Dust with a soft dry cloth. For marks, use a barely damp cloth with a drop of pH-neutral soap, then dry immediately — standing water dulls a polish over time.

What to keep away from it

  • Lemon, vinegar, wine and other acids — they etch marble permanently
  • Bathroom and kitchen cleaners, bleach, scouring powder
  • Abrasive pads and steel wool
  • Prolonged direct sunlight on coloured inlay

Inlay work

Set stones are polished flush with the marble. Clean them the same way you clean the marble; never pick at an edge with a fingernail or a blade.

Restoring shine

A marble-safe wax or stone polish once or twice a year brings the surface back. Test it on the underside first.
